Since Bodhgaya is where Buddha received 'Enlightenment', it acts as the spiritual dwelling place for Buddhists, attracting believers from across the world. Located close to the river Niranjana, it is counted among the holiest pilgrimage sites.
In the afternoon, you will be taken for a Bodhgaya sightseeing tour that includes the Mahabodhi Temple and the sacred Maha-Bodhi tree. Spend the night at the hotel in Bodhgaya. Early the next morning after breakfast, you will leave for Patna (a 6-hour journey), stopping at Nalanda and Rajgir on the way. Rajgir holds great significance as Buddha spent 12 years of his life here. After lunch, visit the Bimbisara jail and Gridhakuta Hill. Next, drive another 14km to reach Nalanda University, the ancient International Centre for Buddhist Studies. You will reach Patna after covering another 90km and rest here for the night.
Start with a drive to Kushinagar, stopping at Vaishali where Lord Buddha announced his 'Mahaparinirvana'. Continue to Kushinagar, the place where Lord Buddha gave 'Buddhism' to the world. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Post-lunch, visit the 'Mahaparinirvana Temple' (where Buddha breathed his last) along with the 'Ramabhar Stupa' (cremation site). Spend the night in Kushinagar.
Early morning post-breakfast, drive to the birthplace of Buddha—Lumbini, Nepal. After arriving and checking into your hotel, you will spend the afternoon visiting the 'Mayadevi Temple'. This site is religiously profound and geographically beautiful, offering absolute peace. Stay overnight at the hotel in Lumbini.
Start with a filling breakfast and head for Sravasti, stopping at Kapilavastu, where Gautama Buddha spent his childhood. Continue to Sravasti, known for Buddha’s sermons and miracles. Visit the Angulimal and Sahet Mahet caves before returning to Sravasti for an overnight stay.
Move on to Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world. From Varanasi, travel 12km to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon to his five disciples after attaining enlightenment. Visit the Dhamek Stupa and the Sarnath Museum. Return to Varanasi for the night.
View the glorious sunrise in Varanasi on a boat ride along the Ganges. Return for breakfast and drive back to Bodhgaya. Upon arrival, rest in your hotel. Later, visit the Niranjana River and the Dungeshwari Caves. Celebrate the completion of your spiritual circuit with a comforting final dinner at The Salted Hen before resting overnight.
Have a hearty breakfast before you are safely transferred back to the Gaya International Airport for your connecting flight homeward. Your tour ends with sweet, everlasting memories.
